Set of Angel Pazmino armchairs, 1960's

Angel Pazmino for Meubles de Estilos, 1960’s.

Beautiful set of folding chairs in solid meranti. Backrest and seat in brown saddle leather embossed with Inca patterns.

These modernist chairs with tapered legs, were designed by Angel Pazmino for Meubles de Estilo in the late 1960s.

Ecuador at this time received a US aid project to encourage native craftsman. Local designers where given the opportunity to meet Danish modernists and exchange knowledge and ideas. This collaboration led to some great examples of traditional joinery applied to modern shapes with the use of high quality solid local wood types and leather.

These examples have a particularly attractive patina and a minimal embossed thick leather seats & backs. Nice detailed hardware.
